As the equity market's profitability nears its all-time highs, Goldman Sachs recently shared some stocks that could see big growth over the next 12 months. In 2024, Kostin expects margin expansion will continue to support ROE growth. In the same report, Goldman Sachs shared its rebalanced ROE growth basket of stocks, which contains 50 names selected for their expected profit growth over the next 12 months. Rising growth fears, solar compensation cutbacks and rising interest rates sank solar stocks last year, but they've since made a comeback. Consensus estimates for the financials sector reveal that most analysts expect ROE growth to remain flat in the same time period.

GE stock has been on a tear, outperforming the market over the past year, as investors bet that the company's break-up will unlock still more value. Since the health-care spinoff, GE shares have risen above $170 from the $60s. He expects anyone buying GE Vernova shares in April will get "a 50% move over the next fourteen months." It's a story increasingly familiar in the energy industry: Some utility companies don't properly assess the risks wildfires pose to their operations. The primary purpose is to prevent power lines from igniting a wildfire during periods of high fire danger. The lawsuit also alleges the company "inexcusably kept their power lines energized during the forecasted high-fire danger conditions." A PG&E utility worker locates a gas main line in the rubble of a home burned down by wildfire in Paradise, California, Nov. 13, 2018. Several of those agencies track statewide wildfire information, but most did not keep track of the names of utility companies associated with wildfire incidents.

Following Monday's trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will no longer own a position in Emerson Electric. Even with the market overbought all last week, the S & P 500 squeezed out a gain of nearly 1% — its fifth straight weekly advance. For reference, any reading of 4% or more means the market is technically overbought (a reading of less than minus 4% means oversold). To help figure out the market's pulse, we like to refer to the Oscillator as our guidepost for buying or selling stocks. Whenever the market is overbought to this degree, our discipline is to look at areas to raise extra cash.

The state's biggest utility, PG&E, serves more than 16 million people across 70,000 square miles in Northern and Central California. The APD set the 2023 revenue requirement at $13.52 billion, reflecting an 11% increase from 2022. According to the regulator, customers would see an increase of $32.62 on their bills, compared with PG&E's request of $38.73. One of the main wildfire mitigation efforts PG&E has been undertaking is undergrounding, or burying power lines. This lessens the need for public safety power shutoffs — a last resort during dry, windy conditions to reduce the risk of sparking a wildfire.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsOct 27 (Reuters) - Electric utility Duke Energy (DUK.N) said on Friday it would build a project to create clean energy using an end-to-end system to produce, store and combust 100% green hydrogen, in Florida. Green hydrogen, produced by splitting water through electrolysis using renewable energy, is expected to play a key role in decarbonizing various industries, including transport. Construction of the demonstration project in DeBary would begin later this year and could take about one year to complete, Duke said. The new system would begin with the existing 74.5-megawatt (MW) DeBary solar plant providing clean energy for two 1-MW electrolyzer units.

Here are the key takeaways of an Associated Press investigation into the probe:WHAT DO THEY THINK HAPPENED? Investigators led by the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and Maui County have declined to comment on specifics of the probe. They included a heavily charred, hollowed 4-foot-tall stump of a utility pole, two heavily burned trees and the remains of an old car tire. Photos taken after the blaze show charred foliage in the utility’s right-of-way still more than 10 feet high. The utility instead sought to shift the blame to Maui County fire officials for what it believes was their premature, false claim that they had extinguished the first fire.

Last summer, two data centers in London experienced heatwave-linked failures, with the incident affecting clinical IT systems at a number of hospitals. Data centers have become "a very important aspect of running entire business models, and even our day-to-day lives. Losing the information processed by data centers would be detrimental not only to companies and individuals, but also governments and society as a whole. This puts the firms that develop and operate data centers in a tricky position, not least because today's facilities are resource hungry. Companies can deploy a range of innovations to put these metrics at the core of tomorrow's data centers.

WASHINGTON — The federal government will provide $95 million to shore up Hawaii's electric grid in the wake of deadly wildfires, President Joe Biden announced Wednesday. The news comes as Hawaii's main electric utility, Hawaiian Electric , is facing a dozen lawsuits alleging that the company's practices were partly responsible for the deadly fires, a claim the utility denies. Fitch, Moody's and S&P all recently downgraded Hawaiian Electric's credit rating to junk status, with Fitch warning that the company could face more than $3.8 billion in potential liability for the Maui wildfires. Biden visited Hawaii with first lady Jill Biden last week to view the damage and meet with survivors. Biden spoke to the governors of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, and pledged the federal government's support for recovery efforts, the White House said.

The suits allege that downed power lines operated by the company contributed to the deadliest U.S. wildfire in more than a century. The wildfire risk posed by aboveground power lines is well documented. Lives lost, billions in damagesThe Maui fires have killed at least 115 people with hundreds still missing. But Mitchell said insulating aboveground power lines with a protective covering is also an effective solution that is cheaper and can be rolled out more quickly. There is also technology coming to market that can de-energize power lines automatically when there's a problem, he said.
